Joe Ricard is a composer, arranger, bandleader, teacher, and low brass player from the Boston area. He earned undergraduate degrees in Jazz Composition and Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music in 2012, a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition from The New England Conservatory in 2015, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado. While at Berklee, he was awarded the 2012 “Herb Pomeroy Scholarship” for outstanding work and leadership in the Jazz Composition department. Later in 2015 he was a finalist in The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra's Emerging Jazz Composers competition. He currently leads three bands; "The Dapper Brass", which showcases his original compositions and arrangements, "The Dapper 7" which focuses on covers of contemporary songs, and “TromBoston”, which is a ceremonial and pop brass quartet. He remains an active freelance musician, having played with groups like The Plain White T’s, The 8-bit Big Band, The Beantown Swing Orchestra, The Hot Tamales Brass Band, The Downtown Boston Brass, Key Lime Pie, Eye2Eye, and Sarma Brass Band.
